Welcome to Power Buddy. By using mypowerbuddy.co.nz you agree to these terms. Please read them — they're written in plain English and they protect both of us.

1. About Power Buddy

Power Buddy is a free, independent home-energy advisor for New Zealand. We provide energy calculators, a free home energy audit, and a directory of verified Kiwi installers. We are not a power retailer, an installer, or a financial adviser.

2. Using the site

You may use Power Buddy for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:

Use the site for anything illegal or harmful.
Scrape, copy, or republish our content without written permission.
Submit false information through any form (including quote requests and expert applications).
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to admin or expert areas.
Interfere with the site's operation or send automated traffic.

3. Calculators and tools

Our calculators produce estimates for general guidance only. They are not professional advice. Real-world results depend on factors we can't measure online — your home's specific construction, weather conditions, energy use behaviour, and current pricing.

Always confirm important decisions (such as installing a heat pump, switching power retailer or buying solar) with a qualified professional. See our full disclaimer and accuracy notes.

4. Expert directory

Power Buddy lists independent New Zealand businesses ("experts") who provide home-energy services such as heat pump, solar, plumbing, electrical and insulation installation. We verify basic business details before listing, but:

Listed experts are independent businesses, not employees or agents of Power Buddy.
Any quote, contract or work performed is solely between you and the expert.
We are not responsible for the quality, price, timing or outcome of any work.
Reviews on the site reflect the views of the individual reviewers, not Power Buddy.

Always check an expert's credentials, insurance and references before engaging them, just as you would with any tradesperson.

5. Quote requests

When you request a quote, we send your contact details and project brief to the experts you select. By submitting a request you agree those experts may contact you to discuss the work. You can opt out of further contact at any time by telling the expert directly or emailing us.

6. Expert accounts

If you register as a listed expert, you additionally agree to:

Provide accurate, up-to-date business and contact details.
Hold all qualifications, licences and insurances required by NZ law for the services you offer.
Respond to homeowner enquiries professionally and within a reasonable timeframe.
Not misuse homeowner contact details or send unsolicited marketing.

We reserve the right to suspend or remove any listing that breaches these terms or generates valid complaints.

7. Intellectual property

All content on Power Buddy — including text, graphics, logos, calculators, layouts and code — is owned by Power Buddy or licensed to us. You may share links to our pages freely. You may not republish our content elsewhere without written permission.

8. Third-party content and links

The site may include links to third-party websites, retailer information, product images and finance options. We're not responsible for the accuracy, content or practices of any third-party site or product.

9. Liability

Power Buddy is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law:

We do not guarantee the site will be available without interruption or error-free.
We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of calculator outputs, retailer rates, or third-party information.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the site.
Where law implies guarantees that cannot be excluded (such as under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993), nothing in these terms limits those guarantees.

10. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of New Zealand.
